How does Molten Sky approach weddings and what style do you shoot?
We pride ourselves in a relaxed and very easygoing approach. I don’t believe in stress and take a professional and friendly approach to weddings. My style comprises of a candid, photojournalistic style that combines beautifully with natural portraits to capture an element of elegance fun and romance of your big day. Composition and colour are key elements to my work, I like to use natural light rather than flash where possible to create unique and stunning memories.
How want to spend as much time with our guests and not all day taking photographs, so much time will we spend on formal photos?
Most couples book me for up to 12 hours coverage and spend less than one hour in front of the camera for the formal photos which are taken at different stages throughout the day. I spend the rest of the time shooting with a candid, photojournalistic approach capturing the day as it unfolds naturally. I usually spend 5 minutes with the bride and bridesmaids in the morning before the ceremony while their hair and makeup is at its best, about 20 minutes on the family photos after the ceremony, less if possible, 20 minutes with the bridal party which is mostly drinking champagne and having a laugh and about 20 minutes with the bride and groom. Some couples want more tine, some want less, ultimately it is up to you to decide, your day your way.
We are camera shy and don’t really like getting our photo taken?
Most couples are camera shy and there is never a problem so you have nothing to worry about. I will encourage you to interact with each other and be yourselves so your photos reflect who you are so you look natural and happy with no awkward poses or fake smiles.
We really like the candid photos, where the guests don’t know they are being photographed, do you take these?
Yes, I place huge emphasis on candid wedding photography, over 90% of your wedding day with be spent taking candid shots. Before the ceremony begins, outside after the ceremony, the drinks reception, the speeches, after dinner and the dancing are fully dedicated to candid photography.
Do you offer engagement photography?
Yes of course, engagements shoots start at €200. Contact me for more details.
Should we meet before the wedding?
It is not necessary but worthwhile if you live close by. It doesn’t suit most couples and it is never a problem.
How much is the wedding deposit and how do we book you?
First you can contact us to check the availability of your wedding date; 085 289 4775 info@moltensky.com. If your date is still available we can discuss your needs and expectations. If you decide to book us, signing the wedding agreement is required along with the deposit of €200 to officially secure your wedding date. Most couples transfer the deposit with online banking.
What happens if we want to cancel our booking and no longer require your services?
Just get in touch to confirm. The €200 booking deposit is non-refundable.
Is it possible to give you a list of photos we want taken?
Yes, an absolute must-have short list of photographs is possible provided you or a member of your family or bridal party take responsibility for organising the people involved on the day. Shooting to a long list of photographs is something that can compromise my style and approach so please don’t copy and paste lists from the internet and expect me to spend the day shooting from it!
Do you take preparation shots of the groom on the morning of the wedding?
Yes, this is possible if the location of the grooms preparation is very close to the brides, we can discuss and arrange this option during consultation. If you are having an early ceremony such as 12pm and you want coverage of both the bride and grooms locations, extra charges may apply if you want me to begin my coverage before 10.30am.
How many photographers will shoot on our wedding day?
One as standard, but it is possible to book more. If you are planning a large wedding you could consider two photographers for more comprehensive coverage of your big day.
What time do you start and finish your wedding photography coverage?
I offer 12 hours coverage with my most popular wedding photograph packages and usually start about 2 hours before the ceremony. The earliest I start is 10.30am and the latest I finish is 10.30pm or 3-4 songs after the first dance, which ever comes first. Longer coverage is possible but extra charges apply. For photography option 1 coverage ends after the bride and groom enter the dining room.
How many photographs will I get?
The number of photographs you get depends on a number of variables including weather, locations, number of guests, amount if coverage booked etc. Most couples booked me for 12 hours and normally receive approximately 1000 photos give or take a few hundred.
How long before we see the pictures after the wedding?
Your photographs will normally be available for viewing within 4-8 weeks of your wedding day, but sometimes longer during peak wedding season.
How do you deliver wedding photographs?

Do I get Black & White as well as colour images?
Yes you get the full set in Colour and also Black & White. I also give you both sets in low resolution in case you want to email them to family and friends or use them for social media.
Are my wedding photos going to be retouched?
Yes, all images receive a general retouch free of charge such as colour correction & cropping similar to the standard of the photographs in the gallery and on the blog of this website. If you have any specific requirements we will be happy to discuss this with you but please note charges apply for advanced time consuming photoshop work such as cloning and liquifying. I like to keep things real and natural, I don’t specialise in fairytale weddings or making my brides look like princesses.
Do you charge travel expenses?
I don’t normally charge extra for travel expenses, unless I need to bring two cars to cover two locations simultaneously or if I need to stay overnight. I do charge travel expenses for Island weddings such as The Arann Islands and Inishbofin.

I really like traditional wedding photography and the poses that go with it, can you shoot our wedding in a traditional style?
No unfortunately not, it would be best for you to hire someone else.
We are a very professional and friendly company, we take our work very seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously! We shoot with 3-4 Canon C100 cinema cameras to capture your day from multiple angles and place a huge emphasis on high quality audio. We use a range of cinematic film making equipment to create more dynamic and creative footage of your big day. We offer our wedding couples something different from the norm as you can see from our sample videos.
Video offers a different kind of magic that you can’t get from photography. Video captures subtle body language and peoples voices that tell so much about peoples personalities. We suggest you talk to couples who have already got married. They will all tell you that the day goes so fast and that you miss so many moments. Couples who get a wedding video never regret it, some couples that don’t often do.
Yes of course, drone footage is included with the Cinematic Highlight Film as standard and can be added to the Documentary Film for €100 extra. It goes without saying it all depends on the weather and location restrictions! If we don’t get the shots, you won’t be charged.
The documentary is the most popular choice between the two, with many couples adding on a highlight film as an extra.
We use 3-4 HD cameras at different stages during the wedding day to cover different angles and create more dynamic footage for your personal wedding film. Up to six cameras if you include Drone and gimbal footage.
We send you an online link so you can view and share your wedding film with your family, you can download the HD file and also burn DVDs and BluRays.
We place huge emphasis on the quality of our sound recording throughout your wedding day especially for the ceremony and speeches. We use a broad range of digital recorders and microphones to capture our own audio at the source and never rely on the PA systems of hotels and churches.
Yes we can, we are happy to meet in person to discuss the details of your wedding day. If you are abroad or if it’s more convenient we can arrange a skype or facetime audio call. Although we like to meet our couples before their big day, we have covered many wedding where a meeting was not possible and it was never a problem.
This is ultimately up to you. We usually begin with the bridal preparations in the morning usually about 2 hours before the ceremony. We normally stay until about 4-5 songs after the first dance or 10.30pm, whichever comes first. If you require more than 12 hours coverage extra charges apply.
Every wedding is different and we do not shoot to a mass produced format and as we use multiple cameras and audio devices the process is very time consuming. Depending on the season our wedding films are generally ready 3-6 months after your wedding day. This is just a guide, sometimes it can be a lot sooner, it just depends on the season.
Our most popular locations are Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Athlone, Clare and Limerick , but we are happy to travel all over Ireland to shoot wedding videography and we don’t normally charge travel expenses. We are also available for destination weddings. Please contact us for more details.
For privacy purposes we don’t send out our couples full wedding videos to anyone. If you decide to book us, we won’t send out your wedding video to anyone either. However if you meet us for a consultation we will happily show you sections of different weddings.
Get in touch with us by email or give us a call to see if your wedding date is still available. We can then discuss creating a package to suit your requirements and a deposit of €200 secures your wedding date. We also sign a wedding agreement.
This varies as each wedding is unique, it usually depends on the length of the ceremony and speeches. however, for the a full day documentary package our wedding films are generally about 2-3 hours. Cinematic Feature Films are 15-25 minutes.
Yes of course, we offer extras where we can add photographs of you as kids and old family photos as well as photos of you together before you got married. It is also possible to add photos of your honeymoon if you wish. If you hire us for photography as well it is possible to add a slideshow of your favourite photos too.
Yep, thats no problem at all. You can just list us the start and end times of all the clips and we will edit it together for you.
We want to give you the best quality video possible, so we may have to use small led lights occasionally at some weddings later in the evening at the reception when the ambient light is very low. But we try not too if possible.
Absolutely, we alway welcome ideas and suggestions from wedding couples regarding their wedding video. It is best to discuss this before the big day.
Not unless you ask us to. We tend to leave out the communion and the parts you would hear at any Sunday mass.
Yes, we carry back-up equipment at all times including cameras, lenses, memory cards, batteries, tripods, microphones etc. We are always well covered for any eventuality at every wedding.

Yes you can, but charges apply. It has never been necessary before.
We use a range of Zoom and Tascam digital recorders, Rode, Shure and Sennheiser microphones, manfrotto and Sachtler tripods and monopods, Cinevate and Konova sliders, a Kessler dolly, a Ronin M gimbal and DJI Phantom 4 drone.
We set up a camera with a microphone at the reception venue after the meal and before the first dance. We don’t go from table to table and ask people to leave a message as we feel this would not be in line with our approach. Ideally we look for about about 15-25 messages. Guest messages are subject to space in the venue (health and safety) and also cooperation from your guests, bridal party and families. Guest messages cost €75 extra.
Yes of course, at an additional cost, sometimes it is worth considering for large weddings, please contact us for more details.
Anytime really, most couples book 12-18 months in advance. As we offer photography services as well so we tend to book up really fast, so we would recommend booking us sooner rather than later.
We normally keep wedding video footage for about 1 month after sending out your HD file.
A deposit of €200 secures our services and the balance is paid on the day.
We dress smartly on your wedding day and wear a suit or shirt & tie depending on the weather. We like to blend in with your guests.
